Mark Dean

Contributions: In 1996 Dean was the first African American to be named an IBM fellow. The next year he was given the Black Engineer of the Year President’s Award and added to the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame. He holds three of IBM’s original patents and has more than 20 patents.
Academic events:Mark Dean was an outstanding student and athlete in highschool. He earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (EE) from the University of Tennessee, masters in EE from Florida Atlantic University, and Ph. D. in EE from Stanford University.
